Stockholm News | 2009-09-20

Today between 12 and 1 pm, there was a demonstration against the regime in Iran at Sergel´s Square in Central Stockholm. At 2 pm, a new demonstration started on the same square but against Israel. This led to hostilities between the two groups.
The police sealed off the square but did not interrupt the demonstration against Israel. Many people from the earlier demonstration stayed outside the police fence and shouted against the anti-Israel protesters. There were more than one hundred people gathering there, shouting.

There were strong feelings and verbally heated discussions but no physical violence except for some egg- and tomato-throwing.Two people were taken care of by the police for breaking the police-fence.

At around 4 pm, the demonstration ended and the protesters on the square were transported away by bus according to daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet. The rest of the demonstrators broke up and mingled into the bigger crowd.
