Swedish foreign minister Carl Bildt has scrapped his plans to visit Israel in a few weeks, after some tense correspondence between Stockholm and Tel Aviv.
The Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet alleged that the Israeli defence forces were extracting Human organs from the palestinians that had been slain in battle. This accusation met with outrage from Tel Aviv, and pressure to denounce the accusation.
Bildt said that he could not do so. His reasonings were that Sweden has a tradition of free press and that any intervention by his part would only weaken said freedoms.
The reporter responsible for the article later said that there was absolutely no proof for the article only here say.
Israel continues to call for public denunciation of the allegation.
